Tasks

- SML and subsurface water sampling,

- MP extraction;

- Qualitative/mass quantitative trace analysis of individual MP (Py-GCMS) in atmospheric, SML and subsurface water samples;

- Mesocosm experiments (MP transition atmosphere – water);

- MP extraction & purification, qualitative/ mass quantitative trace analysis of individual MP (Py-GCMS) in proportional samples from project tasks;

- Inter-lab comparisons of MP analysis in environmental samples;

- Contribution result synthesis & reports.

Tasks

- Study by FTIR the distribution of surface MP samples collected in the Artic in 2018.
- Explore horizontal transport by a realistic hi res (Δx~250 meter) non-hydrostatic MITgcm model including Fram Strait and Yermak Plateau.
- Study vertical export trough re-analysis of time series of sediment trap samples from the South Western Svalbard and a 3D transport model based upon high resolution hydrodynamical model of Fram Strait.

Tasks

- Method development for micro- and nanoplastics quantification in marine and terrestrial environments. He will participate in WP2 & 4.
- Method development for extraction and characterization of MPs in various environmental matrices. She will participate to WP1 & 2
- Numerical ocean modelling, co-developer of the Bergen Ocean Model, experience from several EU and NRC projects on ocean dispersion, will contribute in WP2

Tasks

- Contributes to WP 3, leads T3.1 'Aggregation of micro- and nanoplastics' and

- Participates in T3.2 'Vertical distribution: Water column'. HWU will be in kind partner for T3.1.

- GEOMAR collects sinking particles in the field using drifting and moored sediment traps, and Marine Snow Catcher.

- GEOMAR and HWU conduct Couette Flow experiments to determine coagulation efficiencies and investigate biofilms and EPS using CLSM, SEM, and microbiological and molecular approaches (CARD/CLASI-FISH)

Tasks

- Lleading the sediment sampling together with MH and new postdoc.

- Work on analyses of MP in sediments and MP&NP in water samples. Contributions will be to WP1, 3, 4, 5. Unique expertise to contribute with on NP processes and analyses in WP3 and 4.

- Working on physical oceanography modelling and simulations in WP1

Tasks

- Participates in field sampling of airborne MP with High-Volume sampler (own contribution) and portable cascade impactor (requested)

- Field sampling of MP in atmospheric dry deposition (WP1 T1.3).

- Contributes to development of sampling strategy for atmospheric samples along S/N transect.

Tasks

- Provide a PhD position that will work on the enclosed fjord study. The aim is to build a framework consisting of procedures to build current statistics, based in input from general circulation models, and a reduced model that will be used to run scenarios in a Monte Carlo fashion. The purpose is to find potential aggregation zones that can assist in designing a measurement program.

Tasks

- Experience in rubber research, production and use
- Knowledge on rubber chemistry and composition, rubber analysis, abrasion of tread, and aging of rubber
- Contribute to the project providing rubber material samples different in composition as e.g. rubber powder or generated by abrasion processes (e.g. lab, indoor, outdoor)
- Can support, if jointly concluded as being beneficial, with lab tests using rubber specific analytical or microscopic methods

Tasks

- OSIL have just release a new microplastics sampler for the collection of water samples for the analysis of microplastics, which is going to be used in FACTS. It is a large volume sampler that allows researchers to collect and characterise suspended and sinking particles in the water column.

- Work on T3.1 'Aggregation of micro- and nanoplastics' in close collaboration with GEOMAR

- GEOMAR and HWU conduct together Couette Flow experiments to determine coagulation efficiencies and investigate biofilms and EPS using CLSM, SEM, and microbiological and molecular approaches (CARD/CLASI-FISH).
